Honoring the Early Childhood Profession Awards & Scholarship
Join us in the Orion Ballroom, Oak Cliff, Tues., May 2, 2017 6.30-8.30pm
Alzenia Hunter Teacher of the Year Award This award is given to an individual who is a positive role model for children, parents, and fellow teachers. This person must have at least 5 years teaching experience outside of college, and membership/involvement with professional early childhood organization.
Early Childhood Administrator of the Year This award is given to an individual who is an outstanding administrator of an early childhood program. This person must have at least 5 years of administrative experience and be involved in DAEYC and other professional community activities.
Margaret Cone Impact Award This award is given to an individual who has had an impact on families and children beyond the paid responsibilities of a specific job.
Pat Kennedy Teacher Educator Award This award is given to an individual in higher education who has had a positive impact in the field of early childhood education. This person should have extensive training and/or classroom experience. This person should be involved in DAEYC and other professional community activities.
Early Childhood Trainer of the Year Award This award is given to an individual who is an outstanding trainer as evidenced by recommendations from students, colleagues, and administrators. This person should have extensive training experience that has positively benefited students and early childhood field. This person should be involved in DAEYC and other professional community activities.
Wanda M. Smith Advocacy Award This award is given to an individual or organization who advocates for young children, families and early childhood education with integrity and excellence.
Home Visitor Award This award is given to an individual who goes above and beyond to provide high quality inclusive services to children and families through an evidence-based home visiting program, i.e. Parents as Teachers (PAT), Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY), Nurse Family Partnerships (NFP), or Early Head Start Home Based Program. This person must have at least 2 years experience as a home visitor. This person must live in Dallas County, not be an elected DAEYC board member, and not be running for political office.
Scholarships to rising early childhood professionals
Joanie Pieper TAEYC Conference Award This scholarship award is given to an individual who has demonstrated commitment to young children and their families. The recipient of this award receives their conference fee and hotel paid for this year’s TAEYC Annual Conference.
Dallas AEYC Academic Scholarship DAEYC awards annual college scholarships to students who have demonstrated an interest in furthering their education in the field of child development or early childhood education. The scholarships can be used for tuition, CDA fees, or books as required by the campus chosen by the recipient. The scholarship check will be paid to the campus or campus bookstore at the time of the student’s registration.
